Earlier this year Talent Trust conducted our Eyes On Production survey, for a client, which showed that their diverse teams on their advertising production were made to feel ‘other’, and were unprepared, as well as lacked teamwork and support.

Read along to see the consultation result as well as the strategy implemented to achieve their goals.

Eyes On Production Results

  • Talent and crew were honest when filling out the survey because it is anonymous. The data showed the following information:

  • No specialist was booked to do Black hair.

  • The makeup artist did not carry the correct colour tone for Black & Asian talent.

  • Shoots often ran over, which is an issue if talent are not paid for overtime.

Consequence

  • Talent felt that even though they were a diverse team they were made to feel like ‘other’, were unprepared, and lacked teamwork and support.

  • Changes our client made after the survey consultation were:

  • More staff training and conscious awareness of diversity on set.

  • A specific checklist to run through prior to a shoot, so support is available for all talent and crew.

  • A private changing room was created with a pop up small tent that can be used in any location.

Result 2nd Survey

  • Uptick of 30% satisfaction

  • Better coordination on set

  • Better preparation

  • Less time wasted

  • Money saved

  • Better team engagement
