Creating Inclusive Workplaces: Three Key Principles

One of the methods of upholding diversity is fostering inclusive environments for talent.

But the labels "inclusion" and "exclusion" may be deceptive. Designating certain "inclusion zones" could unintentionally draw attention to differences and foster a "them vs. us" mentality. The goal should be to build a culture of inclusivity in production studios or any creative space where everyone feels valued as a united team member.

When establishing an inclusive workplace that prevents any feeling of division, keep the following principles in mind:

Focus On Shared Goals And Values

Instead of highlighting the differences, focus on what unites the team. What is the company's mission and vision? How do you uphold the core values?

Individuality As A Core

Appreciating individuality serves as a basis for inclusivity since the focus is not on the talent's background but rather on the unique set of skills they bring to the team.

Beyond The Demographics

Diversity is much more than race, ethnicity or gender. It goes beyond the demographics, focusing on the professional background, problem-solving skills, knowledge and expertise.
