Crowd Control Management On Set

Public shoots offer a unique and dynamic way to engage with audiences, but large crowds can pose a safety risk if not managed effectively.

The following practical advice and safety precautions will help to guarantee efficient crowd control during public filming:

• Thorough Planning:

- Most importantly, conduct a risk assessment before the shoot.

- Include factors such as location size, crowd volume and potential risks.

- Create a feasible and concrete emergency response mechanism. If possible, have a medical personnel on set. If not, prepare a list of nearby hospitals.

- Secure necessary permits from local authorities.

• Managing The Crowd:

- Ensure the amount of staff you hire for crowd control is sufficient. The staff should wear high-visibility vests for clarity.

- Verify that all communications are clear, concise, and in multiple languages if necessary.

- Clearly identify restricted areas with signage.

- Establish designated entry and exit points to manage the crowd flow.

- Make accommodations for individuals with disabilities and other special needs.

• Have A Plan B:

Lastly, it's always better to expect the unexpected when it comes to public shoots. Thus, have a designated emergency evacuation plan and ensure all crew and staff are familiar with it.

While implementing these steps, assessment is crucial. Our customised, anonymous production surveys provide the measurement tool you need to clearly define your set's safety.
